As part of our Underwater group, the Systems Architect – Combat & Automation Systems, is a key role in developing and maintaining an informed architectural design approach for long term product reuse in order to mitigate technology and market risks for Saab Australia’s Underwater Group Software Engineering programs.
The successful candidate will:
- Progressively implement architectural changes to the Underwater Group Software Engineering projects as required
- Address the system attributes of the Combat & Automation systems including the form and behaviour. functionality and utility over ongoing product lifecycles
- Resolve trade-offs within the architecture between flexibility, performance, procurement/operating cost, operator effort, failure modes and security
- Refine existing and new strategies to exploit aspects of commonality and identified opportunities for reuse from within Saab and also from the wider engineering community
- Develop architectures to facilitate cost effective reuse in the design, software and hardware for each iteration of evolving Combat & Automation systems
About you
Your skills and experience will include:
- Tertiary qualifications in systems engineering, computer science, or related technical discipline
- Extensive experience in the development and/or leadership of large software projects
- Detailed understanding of the contemporary software and hardware architectures and development environments, processes and frameworks
- Demonstrated understanding of the lifecycle of complex system development projects
- Experience in the interpretation and application of system engineering standards
- Experience in safety critical systems development and knowledge of system safety standards
- Experience producing technical documentation
- Outstanding interpersonal, teamwork and leadership skills, with the ability to quickly establish credibility among stakeholders and drive outstanding outputs
